Poe and Lovecraft by elchavoman

I was just thinking about Poe and Lovecraft and I realized…

Poe is exactly like Lovecraft without the Elder Gods.  You get the same sort of creeping madness and terror, but where in Lovecraft that’s a result of Eldritch Abominations breaking into our universe and therefore perfectly normal and nothing to be ashamed of, in Poe that’s just how people are.  Everything has a very human source, including his supernatural stuff.  

I’m honestly not sure which is scarier.
